Wendy's face lit up with a massive grin. "A swashbuckler?! Really? You're just like my grandmother!" She said, holding up her book. On the back cover was an image of a fairy in classic pirate clothing, holding a sword with one hand. "She was a huge adventurer a long time ago before retiring. She's a big influence on me, and it's why I want to be an adventurer too." She sighed. "I can't use a sword though. All I know how to do is....this..." Wendy motioned her hand over her cup. Suddenly the liquid inside began to float upward from the cup, as if being pulled out by an unknown force. Wendy gestured her hand, causing the liquid to swirl around in the air before plopping it back into the mug.

Mya was amazed at the trick. She'd never seen water manipulated so easily! Sea storms were usually something that caused her to fear water before she was taught to swim. To her, she was never afraid of the dark, she was afraid of drowning. she could see well enough in the dark anyway. After she was finished being stunned by the ability, she said "I remember how my uncle taught me how to swim. He wasn't exactly famous I guess, but he was my hero and an amazing pirate role model. I learned to use my rapier from him and also how to fish!" She dug into a pocket of her shorts and brought out a small weapon. "But THIS is my favorite weapon! I got it in a very significant fight once. That day was the day Daddy was proud of me..." The weapon was a Starknife. It looked like it had rarely seen actual combat.

"Oh cool! That's a....oh, what's it called...." She said, snapping her fingers rapidly. "Starknife! It's a starknife! Damn, I should know that, it's my goddess' favored weapon...."

"I'm not usually the one telling stories, but I've got a good one behind this thing! You see, one day there was a guy who tried to stowaway on our ship. He wasn't discovered until after we were far from port. He planned to loot our cargo until I found him. At the time I was still in training with a rapier. So I couldn't use it very well. I saw him, he panicked and took me hostage then threatened to sink the ship if my family and the others on-board didn't let him take our cargo. He also said he'd kill me if someone tried anything funny. There I was, a starknife to my throat and a dangerous man binding my arms to my sides. So I bit him and he let go of the starknife. But not me. I caught it in my hand as it fell out of his and stabbed him in the side with it! My daddy was so proud of my quick thinking and smooth execution. Daddy was usually so busy with the business aspects of a trade ship's voyages... Anyway, luckily he wasn't wearing armor and that was his only weapon. But the others tied him up and threw him in the lower deck. I secretly went down there that night. I was furious that he tried to not only steal from us when he didn't need the stuff, but also that he was going to sink my home with my family along with it. I took out the starknife I'd hidden from everyone else and used all four blades on it to slash him on his back. Somehow, watching him bleed felt really good. He deserved it! I left him there and kept his weapon. The next morning he was still alive of course, but badly hurting. We arrived at a port and turned him in to the authorities. He remains to this day a marked man by the scars I left so if I ever found him again, he would suffer once more!" The dark deed of torture was not a habit of hers, but the reasons almost justified it. Many people would have died if that ship had sunk while in the middle of the ocean far away from any port. Few would be able to swim so far without drowning in the process.

"Bleck. I can't say I've done anything like that, but I have had the Grove attacked by bandits. What happened to them, though....it......it was horrifying to say the least." She said, her skin becoming pale as she shuddered in fear at the thought.

When I got here, I still wasn't very good at knowing when I was being tricked, but I learned from the mistakes and now I'm better for the experience. I just like to learn in general though. spending so much time on a boat makes me want to see the land for myself. New experiences, you know?" Mya's ears twitched and she sensed a distant noise getting closer by the minute. "Something's coming, not sure what yet, but it's something...loud."

Wendy looked over to the door quizzically.
"Huh? I don't hear anything..." She said.

"I have a better sense of hearing. Not as good as my sight, but still better than most races I think. It's still really far away though, so unless it starts moving fast we should be fine. We don't even know if it's something dangerous anyway." With a shrug she put away her starknife.

*The door to the tavern swung open as 2 guards rushed in looking around. They spot wendy and point at her.* "There she is! Halt, you are under arrest for crimes against the town!" *they start making their way over to the table, but are having some trouble with their armor in the small walkways of the tavern. The barkeep rolls his eyes and continues cleaning a mug. There is a door to the near the back of the tavern, and one leading to the kitchen.*

Mya whispered to Wendy "If you need my help to escape or fight, just say so. I've fought these sorts before but not often. They can be annoying. Luckily they're not too persistent. Unless they were bribed....." She glared at the two guards and held a hand over her weapon's scabbard.

Mya followed closely behind, eager to help however she could if needed. Wendy was her best chance of finding adventure! She couldn't let these oafs take away her new friend! She sped up a bit to prevent herself from slowing them both down.

"See, this is what I was talking about! I can't even go into town because of my race! I didn't even do anything and everyone wants me dead!" Wendy said as she darted down an alleyway to hide.

*As they turn the corner, they see that the alley is a dead end, and the 3 guards round the corner behind them.* "No running this time!" *they say as they start to draw their swords, but stop when they hear a voice behind them.* "What in tha name o' Irori is goin' on?" *A dwarf barely taller than 4 feet stands there with his arms crossed. He is wearing armor made of metal scales and has an odd looking crossbow on his back. The holy symbol of Irori can be seen hanging from his necklace.* "None of your business priest." *One of the guards barks.* "Go back to your prayers," *He says, and one of the others snickers. The dwarf unfolds his arms, and draws a rune in the air, causing a similar symbol to appear between the girls and the guards, glowing softly on the ground.* "Ye'd best not be mockin' 'er greatness Irori." *he folds his arms again, as one of the guards eyes the rune.* "Now why don't ye' explain wha's goin' on?"
