On a small island, lost to time and the memory of man, sits a massive beautiful forest. The forest, lush with green and the sounds of life, is guarded over by a massive tree named L'aeldrei. Having lived longer than the current dating system has existed, L'aeldrei's infinite knowledge and vast magic has kept the forest safe from harm. Within the massive groves of trees and plantlife with a mind of their own sits multiple villages governed over by animals of all kinds. This particular tale begins at the town of Feystop, a small trading village for those looking to make a quick gold piece. Very few human-like races venture into the forest but the ones that do only wish to trade. The villages' inhabitants bustle through the city, looking to trade their wares and take on apprentices for their businesses and crafts. However, one particular tavern, The Four Paws Tavern, was particularly noisy. A group of travelers had come to the village. Although they weren't aware of it yet, these humble adventurers, seeking only the glory of battle or ancient relics to discover, were about to become the greatest heroes the forest had ever known......
OOC: None of the characters know each other starting off, however you all meet up at the tavern by coincidence. RP getting to know each other and when I have a few encounters ready to go we'll begin.

*lek stands by the fireplace chanting in bannik and tossing in offerings to Atun ...most of which were spices and herbs while he took bits of an unidentified meat that appeared to be rabbit*

Into the Four Paws Tavern steps a human of medium build, sharp of feature, fair of hair and blue of eye. His limbs look a bit too long for his torso, and his movements are slow and calculated. He wears travelling clothes, including a sash of green and blue and purple as if made of opal, carries a spear in hand and wears a scimitar on his hip. He leans the spear against the wall near the door, then approaches the bar. "Barkeep! I require a meal. Have you meat and potatoes?" He puts five silver on the bar and awaits a reply.

As the man spoke, a kitsune in a cooking apron stood up from behind the bar and nodded.
"Sure do, stranger!" He said in perfect Common, "What's your choice? Got some cow, goat, boar, some chicken...."
He pulled out a plate and began to peel potatoes.

"Boar sounds lovely." The man reached a foot out to a barstool and pulled it over lightning quick to take a seat upon. "Are you in need of any spices? I travel far and wide with a vast collection of fresh, dried and powdered herbs and spices for trade or sale." He reaches into one of the pockets of his sash and produces a small variety of plants, freshly picked. "Also, is there a local church or shrine staffed by priests? I have some scrolls that may be of use."

"Spices? No, can't say I need any. I tend to grow all my own." The kitsune said as he focused on the potatoes. After peeling and washing them, he began to chop them up and throw them into a skillet behind the counter.
"Hey, Zervi! We need an order of boar out here!" he called into the back. A voice from behind the doors confirmed it.
"Now, for scrolls, I think there's one shop in town looking to buy. Run by this grumpy fellow we all call Red. Another kitsune like myself. Short, grouchy, not all that great with people. Don't let his personality turn you off, he's a good guy at heart. He's probably over by the trading carts on the southern end of town this time of day. If you head down to the west side of town you'll be able to find the church, just keep in mind we worship the Ent god L'aeldrei 'round these parts.....I figure you're not from around here, what with being a human and all. We don't get too many non-animals in the forest....I take it you're here to sell your spices?"

"Not originally, no." His laugh is far off thunder - low and rumbling. He picked up the coins he had placed and set them down in a tower, sliding them off to one side, but closer to the barkeeper. "I fell into it some time ago, when I found that the mainland had different spices than grow here. A lot of similarities and many differences. I took up growing what I had and trading it around. I would love to see your garden - maybe lease some land to plant a few of my own? Travelling makes it hard to get consistent crops." He fishes a pen and inkwell and a small journal out of his sash, and scribbles for a while, recording the information given. "I will make a point to speak with Red before paying a visit to the church."

As the man spoke, a ratfolk hustled out of the back carrying a slab of meat about as long as his forearm.
"Boar's meat, boss." He said. The kitsune nodded.
"Thanks, Z." He said as he grabbed it and tossed it onto a stove near the skillet. The sound of sizzling radiated through the area as the kitsune multitasked between the meat and the potatoes.
"Leasing land, huh? You'll have to talk to Big Mig for that. He's the the one who handles property in town. And yeah, I could show you my spices sometime. It's nothing special, though, just enough to bring out the flavor of the food, you know?"
He flipped the meat with a quick flick of his wrist and followed suit with the potatoes.
"So you're a traveler? I'm guessing one of those adventurers judging by the spear and sword. Name's Flaxx, I run this joint. I don't get to see too many of you adventuring types, but you're more than welcome here! You here to take care of that bandit problem over in Manaridge? I hear those folks are getting pounded by goblins. Nasty little freaks-"
"HEY!" Called out a goblin from a nearby table, pointing to Flaxx. Flaxx rolled his eyes.
"Not you, Ing, you pay your tab." He said. The goblin grumbled and went back to his drink.

"I would have to talk to Big Mig to plant spices in your garden? Unusual. I would be happy to show you some spice combinations. For instance - that boar you're cooking? Try these." He draws some plants from his sash and puts them on the bar. "I travel around a bit, but not really adventuring. I have the spear to hunt with and to use as a stabilizer, and the sword for protection. I rarely use either -" More thunderous laughter. " - and I'm not terribly good with them either. I hadn't heard anything about the problems at Manaridge. I might be able to provide some small measure of aid."

"Well, any aid is better than none at this point." Flaxx chuckled as he grabbed the spices. He threw them into the skillet with the meat and began to flip it, finishing off the cooking process.
"So, uh, I never got your name, friend. What was it again?"

A young kitsune sits off to the edge of the room. Her eyes dart around the room, taking in the sights and people, ears flicking with each new noise form the busy tavern. Unknowing, she finds herself staring up at the bar, more distracted by the smell of cooking meat and herbs then anything else. An untouched drink sits in front of her as she stares vacantly, hugging her oversize ball of fluff she calls a tail.

"Hey! You stay away from his meal, he paid for it, you little gremlin!" Flaxx said as he swatted Lek away.

"Drei dammned banniks....Zervy! Decoy meat!" Floxx yelled into the back. The ratfolk came out soon after carrying a slice of cooked meat larger than the one on the plate and waved it front of Lek.
