"Indeed. No ordinary caster could get you so far with such a simple spell." *M'Elanin looked off into the distance as though thinking while absent mindedly still plucking the strings of his lute.* "I do wish to meet the one who can do do much with a single spell." *he said, turning back to the group.*

" 'Should not be used so lightly'?" Halamar scoffs. "What sort of crazy power does this wizard have? Are you sure it wasn't a teleport?" Halamar reached out his hand as a stiff wind blew through the still-open door, and caught his spear as it came flying to his hand. "I will take care of my business and return here, I should be no longer than half a candle's mark." Halamar said as he moved past the group and out of the door. He paused before closing it, saying off-handedly, "Try the boar, Floxx."
Halamar went to the market to search for the one called Red.

Halamar passed rows of stands being run by various species of animals, including a foot massage station run by an awakened bear. Eventually he made it to a small trailer on wheels with a stand in front of it that simply said "Red's". The stand was barren, but noises could be heard from inside the trailer.

"Red, good sir, I wish to see your wares and perhaps do business." The short walk had brightened Halamar's mood considerably, and he was well on his way back to his usual cheery disposition. "I have divine scrolls and spices to trade."

As soon as he finished, the door slammed open. A short wizened kitsune with patches of missing red fur stomped out.
"What do you think you're doing?!" He snapped in a crusty old voice. "Can't you read the sign?! We're clo-" he began to say before looking over at the stand. There was no sign.
"Son of a- those stupid kids stole my sign again!"
He stomped down the stairs and headed over stand, sighing. Although he wasn't short, he hunched over and used a walking stick casually.
"Ah, well, no point of closing now. You said you had scrolls for sell? Fine, let's see them. I got a couple things to sell too, if you're a trader."
With a flick of his wrist, a stack of scrolls unfolded from his robe's sleeve and spread out neatly on the table.
"Let's see, we got a Scroll of Command, been saving that for a rainy day....Scroll of Detect Undead, always useful if you go near the Lost Lands....Uh, Scroll of Magic Weapon, and....hm....interesting, I guess my familiar didn't need this after all. A scroll of Prayer. Naturally, I have duplicates if you need more than one."
OOC:
Scroll of Command (cr, 25 gp)
Scroll of Detect Undead (cr, 25 gp)
Scroll of Magic Weapon (cr, 25 gp)
Scroll of Prayer (cr, 375 gp)

"Unfortunately, kind Red, I do not think I can use any of the scrolls you mentioned. I do have a few for sale: Cure Light Wounds, always a favorite, Create Water, Purify Food and Drink, good for a dry spell, Mending, a must have, and the travelling trinity, Longstrider, Endure Elements and Feather Step. Standard prices, of course." Halamar drew various bits of finely scribed and carefully protected paper from his sash, arraying them before the shopkeep. "What other items have you in stock?"
OOC:
Create Water Mending Purify Food and Drink - 12.5 gp each.
Cure Light Wounds Endure Elements Longstrider Feather Step - 25 gp each

"You missed the big rush. This is what I have." He said shortly.
"Let's see those scrolls of yours."
He looked over the various scrolls and scratched his chin.
"Hm, I do need a Mending scroll....damn table in the dining room has a wobble in it, could use something to fix that for good.....How much you want for it? Prices might be different than the mainlands, gotta ask ahead of time."

"I think 25 gold is the accepted value." Halamar recovered the rest of his scrolls, secreting them away in his voluminous sash.

"Eh.....fine, if it means I can get back to my nap." He said with hesitation before pointing to the door to his caravan. The door swung open and a raven flew out carrying a bag.
"Did 'e bouy anyting, mate?" The raven said in a loud Cockney accent.
"Nah, just wanted to sell stuff. Mending scroll, it'll fix that table you broke." Red replied, unphazed by the talking bird.
"Oy! I ain't da one 'o gets all grump and smashes tings wid 'is Mage 'and! Blood dinnit knew y'could even do that!"
"Cram it! Grab the scroll and take it inside. I need to watch my soaps...."
"Wussat?"
"My soaps! Damn kids keep trying to steal my bars of soap. I swear, those little brats are always messing with me..."
Red handed the 25 GP to Halamar and took the scroll.
"You heading out of town after this, yeah? Hmph. Have fun with that." He snorted sarcastically before walking back towards his home.

"A pleasure, shopkeep. Pity." Halamar huffed. He was expecting a lot more out of the shop, though was neither surprised nor overjoyed that he had to talk to the local religious ... people. "Hopefully they will have something worth my time," Halamar expressed in sotto voce as he walked towards the church.

*From a corner of the tavern, a previously overlooked Wood Elf rises to his feet. He adjusts his bow and great sword as he strides over towards the gathering company.* "If the forest is in need of protection, I am more than willing to render aid" *he says rather brusquely to the monk.*

"Gah! Where did you-" Harold said after a quick surprised jump. He shook it off and regained his stance.
"Nevermind, I'll take all the help I can get. Alright, I think we're just waiting on that one fellow who needed to do some shopping....
In the other part of town, Halamar made his way to the church. The building was a large stone structure with two pillars holding the roof up from the front. At the top was an image etched into the roof depicting a massive tree with its branches- shaped like hands- stretched out towards an island. Inside were two individuals- a catfolk wearing clergy clothing and a ratfolk holding a sign that said "Closed" on it.
"....and I guess I just feel terrible..." The ratman said sheepishly. The catfolk patted his shoulder and chuckled.
"It is alright," She said, "He tends to be a bit...rough, but you will be absolved. L'aeldrei cares about you and only wishes you learn from your mistake."
The ratfolk nodded and headed out. The catfolk looked up and bowed to Halamar.
"Hello, and welcome to the church of L'aeldrei" She said politely, "How can I help you, sir?"

"I am Halamar, fair priestess," he begins with a smile, "and I come seeking to trade scrolls and herbs from the mainland. Have you need of any?" Halamar allowed his spear to lean against the great column nearest him. "I have a fine selection of herbs and spices, and a few helpful scrolls that I keep duplicates of." Halamar lists the same scrolls as earlier, minus the Mending previously sold.

"I see....well, we have no use for herbs and spices, although I may be interested in the scr-"
"NO SOLICITORS!" Cried a voice from the back in a shrill tone. The priestess sighed.
"But he has scrolls for creating water, and healing, and-"
"NNNNNNNNNOOOOO SSSSSOLLLLICCCCITTTTTOOOOOOOORRRRSSSSS!" It screeched again. The priestess turned back to Halamar and smiled weakly.
"I'm sorry, sir, I guess we are not allowed to purchase from non-clerical sources..." She said in a raised tone. She leaned in close immediately after. "I'll buy all of them." She whispered with a wink.

Halamar took a small bag from his sash and placed all of the scrolls inside, whispering "110 gold" at the priestess. He held the bag low to his side by the string as he entered into the church proper. "I come in good faith, to help where I can and learn about this strange deity. My brethren on the mainland have heard of no L'aeldrei - I wish to compile what knowledge I can on the subject, that I may return and spread it. What can you tell me of the great tree, cleric?"
