*There is a small town by the coast of the Trelinian Sea named Farspeak. It has a couple of trade routes that run through it, and a small port to take in shipments from other areas up and down the coast. It is known by most travellers as the resting ground for heroes, as many old adventurers go there to retire. Travellers will come and go, hoping to hear stories of greatness, and adventures of old. Some seek advice from the heroes, others seek to make their start here. The local tavern called the Skeleton's Flagon, is a popular meeting place for young adventurers looking for work. It is run by a grizzled Dwarf, with a thick grey beard named Demitri, and his wife, Elara, a Human with shoulder-length, dark brown hair. The tavern is quieter, as the lunch rush has passed, and it is a bit too early for dinner.*

The doors open to reveal a young woman with chocolate skin and tuffs of white hair poking out underneath her cloak. With a book in one hand, she walks up to the bar.
"Are you guys still serving drinks?" She asks politely. Her voice was light and youthful.

At a nearby table, a tiger-striped catfolk girl listens intentlt to a traveller's story when she notices the new face in the tavern.

As Demitri serves the woman a drink, she sits down at the bar and looks over to the other patrons. She notices a catgirl sitting at a table and nods to her.

Eager to meet someone new with new stories to tell, Mya Scarlett heads over to the woman and strikes up a conversation. "So, what brings you here?"

"Oh, just traveling around. I just set out from my home and this is one of the first towns I made it to. Name's Wendy, you?" She said, holding out her hand to shake.

"I'm Mya, nice to meet you!" With a smile, she shook Wendy's hand and asked her about her adventures, the old man she had been listening to before seeming a bit annoyed at her leaving in the middle of his story.

"Adventures? Nah, I haven't had any....I wouldn't mind going on them though. I keep hearing about these amazing places outside The Grove that my grandparents used to travel to. Eventually I got sick of hearing them and decided to live them."

"I was born aboard a trade ship, so I haven't been to many places on land. I'd love to go on adventures as well, but I doubt I'd last long on my own. I tried to leave this town and head North, but then realized that I should've brought a compass..." With a laugh at her own expense, she turned her head to hide her embarrassment.

"On a boat? That must've been weird first time getting on land. Then again, I can't talk..." Wendy said as she laid back with her legs cross, taking a sip from her mug.
"After all, I was raised by fairies."

"Well, being on a boat for most of my life wasn't so bad. We catfolk have great balance, so the rocking of a ship at sea was like walking on a slightly bumpy road really. And it's not like I never stepped foot on land until now. I briefly visited the port towns the ship stopped at during my childhood. And I've been off on my own for about 4 years now. I've lived here, made some friends, and learned many things as well. But I never went too far outside Farspeak. I always figured an adventure would be a lot more fun with companions by my side. So, what was it like being raised by Fairies?" Her jade-colored eyes lit up with anticipation of hearing such a unique tale.

"An odd experience. Growing up for a hundred years, I was the tallest creature in my society. They even had to build a bigger house for me to live in! Leaving the Grove and heading out feels weird. Everyone's so....big. I'm not used to not being the tallest person around."

"I also had to adapt to my current lifestyle. With no home, no job, and not much knowledge of how society works, I was on the street stealing bread and fish within a month. I was tricked and my gullibility costed me anything I'd gained many times. But over time, I learned from my foes, used their tactics against them in combination with my own skills and soon became the one they feared. I'm not a scary person, I just have some.......wicked methods of dealing with enemies. But I only ever steal out of necessity. Except for one time...." She looked whistfully out the window at the sea, as if remembering a significant moment in her life. Soon, a grin spread across her face as she reminisced. A sly grin with more than a hint of joyful malice. But it quickly left as she turned back to hear more of her new aquaintance's life among the fairies.

"Sounds like you've had a fun time so far. As for me, I learned the hard way people aren't too keen on....well, my race." Wendy said, looking away.

"Maybe you just haven't been around the right kind of people then. We catfolk have a long history of tolerance for most races. And the ones we don't like? If they prove themselves worthy of respect, then they have nothing to worry about! Besides, not everyone likes pirates and their lifestyle... We aren't ALL 'take what you want because you can'. Some of us would much rather perfect our battle style instead. I'm not just any pirate. I'm classified as a Swashbuckler, I fight with elegant grace and strike with deadly blades. My kind's dodging is practically an art form! Yes, we do still have some less-than-legal ways, but we live for our own freedom, THAT is the pirate way! Just like my Uncle Goldmane taught me."
