In the forests of the world live strange fey with the shape of a young woman but the properties of a tree. Dryad, the caretakers of the forest, are normally bound to a great tree from which they were birthed. If they stray too far they become sick and eventually wither away.
Some dryad, however, are born unbound and capable of leaving the tree's side with no penalties. These unbound dryad are less in tune with nature and thus cannot speak with plants naturally. Because of their unbinding, these dryad are generally cast out from their community as defective and forced to live in exile among the other species of the world.
There are various subspecies of dryad, unbound or otherwise, that relate to the region the dryad came from. Generally speaking, all dryad take the appearance of a young woman with large eyes of solid color. Their skin for the most part is humanoid, but take on a leafy appearance in the extremities. They grow leaves from their waist and chest, creating a pair of makeshift clothing. Although the leaves can be cut for convenience, there is a maximum length the plants are capable of growing.
Unbound dryads do not live as long as the trees they were birthed from, but still have a relatively long life. Most live to be 150 years old, with some reaching even 200 years. Their height varies based on the plant they were birthed from, but generally stand between 5 and 8 feet in height.

Fertile Soil (2 RP): Although ties with their home forest have been lost, unbound dryad still have some connection with plantlife. Sorcerer unbound dryads with the verdant bloodline treat their Charisma score as 2 points higher for all sorcerer spells and class abilities. Cleric unbound dryad with the Plant domain use their domain powers and spells at +1 caster level. This trait does not give unbound dryad early access to level-based powers; it only affects powers that they could already use without this trait.
